Write a note, choose the place it is about on the map, and write it. A note with no place attached is about the tour as a whole, which is right for anything that is not about one address.
Find a note narrows the list as you type, which is how you find the alarm code at seven in the morning.
Only you and the people you have added under People.
They are never in the tour, never in a link and never on a printed map. There is no switch that can publish them by accident, because there is no switch.
